Jerry Sands Called Up From Triple-A - Xavier Paul Designated For Assignment

The BIG news of the day is the announcement the Dodgers have called up Jerry Sands from AAA Albuquerque.  To make room on the 25-man roster, the team designated outfielder Xavier Paul for assignment.  Manager Don Mattingly says Sands will get plenty of playing time in left field and at first base.  The 23-year old Sands was the Dodgers 25th round draft pick in 2008.  So far this season at Triple-A, Sands is hitting .400 in 40 at bats with 5 homeruns and 17 RBI.  Sands will make his major league debut tonight batting 7th and starting in left field.

Tonight's Lineup:

Miles 2B
Blake 3B
Ethier RF
Kemp CF
Uribe SS
Loney 1B
Sands LF
Barajas C
Lilly P
