On Sunday June 22, 2014, OC Nissan in Irvine hosted a Steve Garvey autograph signing. Garvey was scheduled to sign from 1:30pm to 3:00pm. Before Garvey arrived OC Nissan offered free hot dogs, Dodger Dogs, popcorn, and drinks. A few minutes before 1:30pm, we were notified that Garvey was stuck in traffic and running late. We were also reminded that he would only be signing one item per person. I'm sure there were several people that got multiple items signed as Garvey is a notoriously nice guy at free signings.
Garvey finally arrived around 2:00pm and after signing items and taking pictures inside the dealership for employees, he started signing. The line moved quickly and Garvey was kind enough to sign to items for me. He signed an 8x10 and a bat. Without even asking for it, he added his 1974 NL MVP inscription to my bat.
