Dodgers Old-Timers Game - Photos and Recap

On Saturday May 10, 2014, the Dodgers hosted the Giants at Chavez Ravine.  Before the game Dodger Alumni Billy Ashley was signing autographs in the left field plaza.  My nephew and I got Ashley's autograph on a baseball card and a postcard that Ashley had at his table.  During warm ups, my nephew was also able to get an autograph from reliever Chris Perez on a ROMLB.  Also during warm ups, Kenley Jansen and J.P. Howell were playing long toss when a ball skipped away from Howell and hit my nephew while he was standing against the rail.  My nephew wasn't hurt and when Howell was done warming up, he tossed my nephew a ball.  Before and during the game, we were also able to get autographs from Eric Karros, Matt Kemp, Chuck Crim, Dusty Baker, and Shawn Green.

After beating the Giants 6-2, the Dodgers hosted the 2014 Old Timers Game.  The roster of old timers included Dusty Baker, Tim Wallach, Mickey Hatcher, Steve Sax, Mike Marshall, Reggie Smith, Steve Yeager, Davey Lopes, Darryl Strawberry, Ron Cey, Fernando Valenzuela, Eric Gagne, Shawn Green, Derrel Thomas, Bill Russell, Ken Landreaux, Eric Karros, Rick Monday, Nomar Garciaparra, Maury Wills, Steve Finley, Orel Hershiser and Rick Honeycutt.  During the game Shawn Green fielded a base hit in foul territory in left field.  As he threw the ball back into the infield his sunglasses fell off of his head and they landed in the stands.  My nephew picked them up and handed them back to Green.  Green then gave my nephew one of his batting gloves.  It was a classy move by Shawn Green.

Over all it was a great day at Dodger Stadium and not bad for my first Dodger game of the year!  Take a look at my pictures below.

  1. Sweet! Shawn Green is my favorite player of all-time. I can't imagine how excited I would be to get my hands on one of his batting gloves.
