Today, October 23, 2011, is the 30th Anniversary of Fernando Valenzuela's Game 3 victory over the Yankees in the 1981 World Series. In 1981, the Dodgers were able to beat the hated Yankees after losing in 1977 & 1978. The Yankees and Dodgers have faced each other 11 times in the World Series. They faced each other in 1941, 1947, 1949, 1952, 1953, 1955, 1956, 1963, 1977, 1978 & 1981 with the Dodgers coming out on top in 1955, 1963 and 1981.
The Game 3 victory was pivotal as the Dodgers had lost the first two games in New York. Valenzuela's victory was the icing on the cake that was his 1981 season. Click on the link to my blog post about being at Game 3 of the 1981 World Series. True to the Blue
